Onboard ‘Fair Dinkum’
CURRENT POSITION
The Skipper and crew are now preparing to make a left turn at the top of Australia to head to Darwin.
They will probably not be in such constant contact with us for a few weeks, so we are preparing to do a few interviews with people that will give you some insight into our intrepid skipper and his crew. It is taking a little longer than expected to catch up with people, so please be patient with us!
The guys are experiencing great sailing and overnight anchorages, but are now in the more remote areas.

Words from Gerr..ard the Gent.
“Gerr…ard the Gent is no experienced fisherman….he managed t
o snare his own hands with fish hooks, instead of the fish! This resulted in being able to
extract one hook, but he had to make and painful trip to Cooktown to get the
2nd one taken out! The skipper had some choice words for this episode.”
NO DOUBT HE HAS BEEN BANNED FROM GOING ANYWHERE NEAR FISHING LINES AND HOOKS FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP!

Gerry Ryan of Melbourne has always been a 'doer'. Many years ago he had a goal of building his own boat and setting off onto the high seas. Over a period of many years he built his first boat, aptly named 'Avarest'. Not having any formal training in boat building, let alone sailing didn't hold him back. Gerry applied himself to the challenge and went on to complete several impressive trips along the east coast of Australia with his family and friends. After eventually parting ways with 'Avarest', he purchased 'Fair Dinkum'.
